One of the most charming places of the northern Italy: Bellagio... the “Pearl of Lario”!
Aptly named due to the privileged location and the beautiful view offered by the “Punta Spartivento”, the point that divides the lake into three branches: Lecco at east, Como at west, and Colico at north. Bellagio is divided in many little suburbs, most of which are worth a visit. San Giovanni for its beaches and tranquillity; Loppia for its marina and to admire the “Gondola”, the ancient boat of Lake Como; Pescallo for its cobbled streets and picturesque harbour; and all the suburbs that you meet when you drive to the mountain where you enjoy the beautiful view of the lake from above, a show you can’t miss.
In addiction to several churches, artistically and culturally worth of note, Bellagio boasts two of the most beautiful villas of the lake: Villa Serbelloni, with its fascinating history and its wonderful park, where every corner reveals a beautiful view. Villa Melzi and its gardens offer long and relaxing walks along the lake, surrounded by greenery and blooms. For lovers of museums: the “collection of everyday objects of the past”, a very special collection located in an old original kitchen. And the “Museum of navigation instruments”, an tower house where to admire precious and ancient equipments. For those who like shopping is a must to explore in the streets of Borgo, where you’ll find all kinds of shops, boutiques, craft wood, glass, leather, ceramics, silk…in addition to many clothing stores. For your evening, you can choose between several places that offer tasting of wine tasting, cheese and salami degustation, and excellent restaurants serving fresh lake fish, good italian food, desserts of Bellagio and if you are lucky the “TOC”, a typical polenta prepared strictly following the ancient tradition, made only on special occasions. |
